  • Trying to ID Flottorp Prop

Trying to ID a Flottorp Propeller that my wife purchased while I was deployed. She found it, in great shape, at a Flea Market in Round Top, Texas.

    Here is the info:
--It is about 8 feet "tall"
    --8 holes, light colored wood,
    --Has the Flottorp logo
--metal on tips and on the outside 1/3 of the leading edges
    --Has the indication of "A7A"
    --Has the numbers: 8-4D-5-OP
    --Also has the number: 806148

any help would be appreciated -- Bounce

Could the "number" be "S.C. 6148"?

My guess would be that it's for a Hall Scott A7A engine, which was used on a Standard J1, and that the number is a Signal Corps number. See this one for comparison.

If so, it's one of the earlier Flottorp props. Measure the hub very carefully and see if it fits the A7A dimensions on this chart.

      Flottorp Prop Question

      Dave

You are correct! Upon further review...the number is indeed: SC 6148 and the bore circle measures 2.75 inches. That looks like a match for the A7A engine.

The prop is in very good shape.
For insurance purposes; can you render a guess at the value? (it is not going anywhere)

all the best; and thanks for the insight
