  • Identification help for newly purchased wooden prop

I just purchased a wooden propeller with the following characteristics:

    - 8'3" (99") in length, blade width is 7.5"
    - Light-colored wood, symetrical (no covering on tips or leading edges/no indication that anything was there before)
    - Hub is 9" in diameter, 7" deep with 3" diameter hole in center
    - 8 Bolt holes
    - Hub is stamped with 'SC41329' and a small square with 'A11B' or 'A118' stamped inside the square
    - A faded diamond-shaped decal with maroon-colored lettering is painted on each side of the hub with the following (very faded) information; "The Liquid C?????? Company Chicago"

Any help on identifying the manufacturer, year of manufacture and type plane it was designed for would be appreciated.

The "SC" is most likely a Signal Corps number, and I'm guessing your prop is likely from the twenties or thirties. Those "A" numbers are probably just inspection stamps.

You should measure the bolt circle diameter and try to see if you can match it to an engine. Go here for details.

If you can post a picture, it might help.
