I bought the propeller from a coworker 30 years ago and it has always been stored inside.

Six bolt holes
Serial NO. 44\20409
DWG NO. 44K 10817
20409
It has a small square stamp with AN 160 in inside the square.
86 inches tip to tip

I appreciate any help given. MMB

Go to this page (http://www.woodenpropeller.com/Military%20numbers.html), where you'll find 44K10817 listed and the corresponding civilian number of 86RB61. The "44K" prefix indicates a military contract in 1944.

Although the prop was manufactured by Fahlin, the Sensenich drawing number (http://www.woodenpropeller.com/MWPSensenich.html) actually defines the propeller's usage. You'll see on that page several Fairchild aircraft using the Ranger engine that matches that design. The prop would have been used on one of those airplanes.

The overall condition and the absence of "witness marks" on the hub suggest that the prop was never used and ended up as military surplus.
