View Full Version : Help with Starr propeller ID

05-20-2015, 02:05 PM
I have recently acquired a beautiful Starr propeller.
I would appreciate some help learning about it's history. Age/where it might have come from etc. and possibly what A/C type it might have been used on.
I will post a few pictures of it that I hope will provide some clues.
The first picture is of what I believe are the identifying markings as they appear on the hub. One interesting thing I note is that the Signal Corps numbers, [30685 I think], looks to have been stamped overtop of a previous engraving. Does anyone have an idea why this might have been done?
Any help would be much appreciated.

Here are a couple more pictures of the propeller.
It appears to my uneducated eye to have been left unaltered from its original condition, thankfully. However I would love some advice as to what to what to look for in assessing its condition. It has 2 well preserved decals and beautiful patina.

Sorry ladies and gentlemen, I just realized I am not including all the pictures I thought I was in my posts. I am a computer illiterate and seem to be unable to alter the picture file sizes. Annoying as this is for you, I assure you it is equally embarrassing for me 😳. Please bear with me as I post some more pictures individually.
