  • Help with ID? know nothing about propellers...

    Hi all,

I inherited a Sensenich wooden propeller. 7 ft, 8 bolt, as far as I can tell "modern".

The only numbers I can find on the thing are:

    DES 36 R61 (or could be 06 R61 or 86 R61)
    SER 42 361 (or could be 42 B61)
    HP 200 MAX
    RPM 2---- MAX

I don't know where to go from here. I looked at the Sensenich numbers but nothing comes close to looking like these numbers I have.

    Any help greatly appreciated.

First step - measure it from tip to tip in inches. Assuming it hasn't been cut down in size that number should be the first number in the design number. If it's exactly 7 feet then it should measure 84 inches and the design number should be 84 (letters) (numbers representing pitch). Your numbers probably represent an 86 inch prop, so if the prop is actually 7' 2" I'd look at the numbers to see if they might actually be on this list.

I'm guessing that it goes to one of the Fairchild or Fleet aircraft listed.

Finally, if you post photos of it we might be able to give you more information.

So it's for one of these three possibilities, assuming that the blue arrows point to the 200 hp version of that Ranger engine:
