  • Gardner prop for PT-17

I have a Gardner propeller made in Forest Park, Illinois for a PT-17 (Stearman Biplane), and would like to know more about its history. It was made for a
R-670-5 engine of 220 HP at 2075 RPM. Can someone advise me?

There's really not much more information to be known about it. Once you know the manufacturer, the engine, and the model aircraft that's pretty much it. It's extremely unlikely that you would find any specific history of that particular propeller. You can Google Stearman and learn a lot about the aircraft type, but there were thousands of propellers manufactured for that model, and they all have similar unknown histories.

Thanks, Dave. I appreciate your comments. This prop has become a functioning sculpture as it stands near vertically in my living room, where it has remained an inspirational conversation piece for years. I wish I could hear its stories, but I'll accept its silence in exchange for its beauty. Bob
