U.S. Propellers inc. wooden ? could someone tell me what this is?

I have, what looks like a wooden billy club w/ a metal end measuring 19" long and has a slight curve at the end. On it it says(U.S. Propellers Inc. Los Angeles Calif.) on it, with a serial #88-52129. Any help would be appreciated.

Eric,

It looks like an early joy-stick. Perhaps US propellers were contracted to make joy-sticks as well as props. It might also be that someone has made this stick out of a surplus prop.
