    Hi

    Today, I purchased a nice german propeller.
    here some details:
    Between quotes, means that I am not sure about the figure.)

    hub side: DEUT-SCHER ANKER PROPELLER
    also a stamp. with something like ..tegral as far as I can see
    and a horizontal propeller in the stamp

    other side: ANKER PROPELLER TYPE WERNECKE D31
    *D.R. (P) ANC *
    GNOME 160 PS
    DCHM 2(6)00
    STG 245
    NO (7)49

    top of hub: STAND 1190
    GEPRUFT P&W

    7 Layers of wood.


    also 1 stamp on left and right blade. think the name anker appears in the
    stamp.

    A gnome 160 ps looks quite strange for a german propeller. Is this maybe
    a propeller build for a captured gnome engine?



    Any ideas?

    Congratulations on finding this propeller. I have added the details to my database with some glee!

    The Deutsche Anker-Propeller was forned in 1916. The owner and maker was Franz Wernecke in Berlin. The distributor was Arthur Gartner at Adlershof. Later, MH Walther in Hamburg made props for the Anker company.

    This is the first Anker prop I have heard of made for a rotary engine.

    Axial made props for the 130ps Gnome, the Oberursel, the Le Rhone and the Siemens-Sh 160ps for the Fokker Dr 1 and D VIII and Pfalz Dr I and II.

    Garuda, Heine, Integral, Rahtjen, Reschke, Wotan also made props for rotary engines.

    French Gnome engines were made by a company in Oberursel in Germany before the war, and this company continued making them during WW1. I believe that an engine used by the German Flying troops which was listed as le Rhone or Gnome would be a captured example.

    Your data translates as;

    GEPRUFT P&W Testing authority of Idflieg which existed from 1915 to 1917
    STAND 1190 (Standdrehzahl) speed of revolution in the context of a test. Here the engine achieved 1190rpm on test.

      the diameter and pitch suggest the prop was intended for a Fokker Dr I.

        Thank you for the reply. I will send you some pictures by the end of
        the week.
        Unfortunately the prop has been cut down to 2450 mm. I noticed this already
        before I bought the propeller but because of the inscriptions and stamps
        I considered the propeller being worth to buy. He also looks very nice
        because of the light and dark layers of wood being used. Furthermore
        the owner didn't realised the importance of this propeller and the price was
        quite attractive.
