  • Help on identifying a prop

    Hi All
    looking for help in knowing what this prop was built for .

    Hub data
    Type H16
    PP163RH
    90X500


    It is a paragon prop was told it was built for a OX5 but don't know
    any help would be great,

    The H16 was a large Curtiss flying boat used by the Navy in the late teens. I think it was only powered by Liberty engines, but don't know that for a fact. The "PP" in the drawing number does in fact indicate that it was built by the American Propller Company as a Paragon Propeller.

    If the hub is notched on the back or the front, it was part of a 4-blade assembly. If the hub is about 7 inches thick, it was a 2 blade model.

      That's a beautiful prop in excellent original condition, and was almost certainly one that was sold as surplus in the early twenties and never actually mounted and used.
