  • My Be2 Prop Clock.

Not exactly a propeller but once was.

War Department (War Ministry?) Arrow is just about visible, as I have indicated in one of the pics.

Any further information would be much appreciated.

    Best Regards,
    Bob.

I'm not sure what advice you're looking for. I think all of the information about its orgin is already clear on the stampings.

          Hi Dave,

I was wondering as to the significance of the following:

T1453, No 666 and the AID marks.

          Best Regards,
          Bob.

            Good Evening Bob,

The letter T in the drawing number is the designer's designation number that indicates the Royal Aircraft Factory (RAF). T1453 is the earliest drg no that I have recorded for the RAF. I don't know what happened to the previous 1452. It is likely that they were drg nos for things other than props.

This drg no probably dates from 1913 although the serial number 666 from Aldam Heaton indicates that it was probably made in 1915. This would be a replacement prop as the aircraft was obsolete by then, but still used as a hack and a training aircraft.

AID was the aircraft inspection department of the RAF and in effect these stamps are airworthiness stamps. Can you read the AID number?

            With kind regards,

            Bob

              Many thanks Bob,

The AID mark is very difficult to see. But as far as I can tell, it reads 648.

              Best Regards,
              Bob.
