  • WANTED: DeHavilland Propeller

Can anyone direct me to where I can find a propeller for a DH4 for sale?
I prefer it to be unrestored/original condition.

Looking for any WWI props! I only need. I am not a collector or reseller. My husband and I are fascinated with aviation history.. just bought new home and want interesting piece for display.

Looking to keep it in unrestored condition... the aging for us.. adds character.

    Any help would be appreciated.

Thank You! Love this site... can't wait for more to be added.. been watching and waiting for a few months now. Very informative!

Are you interested in an American built DH4 prop or British? I got an email a while back from someone who was interested in selling a US built DH4 prop (Liberty engine), and I might be able to dig up the name of the sender and put you in contact with him. Some DH4 props are more "glamorous" looking than others. This one, which is in original condition is the kind of chunky looking, bland blade profile version that was common on the fleet of US built DH4's. While not exactly ugly, they don't have the graceful curve of some of the other props. You can see what they look like in this picture, http://www.airminded.net/dh4/daytonwright_dh4.jpg

The other option is Bob Gardner at Aeroclocks in England (http://www.aeroclocks.com). I'm not sure where you are located, but shipping across the Atlantic does add expense.[

YES! That is what I am looking for. The American Built. Didn't the US made liberty's get sold to the brits for WWI? Some used for combat but most retired and used for U.S. Mail delivery? I am not totally sure on that.. but the pic that you sent me to is what I am looking for. I will check out the website you directed me to out of England.. If you have any other leads to direct me to I would sure appreciate it.
AGAIn.. Can't say enough good things about this site! just wonderful. I have learned a lot here and have saved myself many $$ by the education this site provides.. I was almost the not so proud owner of a boat propeller! Thanks to your site.. I was able to determine that what I was bidding on was NOT what I was really looking for!
Thank you for the speedy reply..
