Comments:  This original Spad VII propeller was originally acquired by Oscar Monthan, a WW1 pilot for whom Davis-Monthan Air Force Base was subsequently named after his death in a plane crash in 1924.  This early model SPAD used the 140 HP Hisso engine, which was later replaced with more powerful versions of the HIsso as they became available during the war.  It most likely was a British model SPAD using a Levasseur propeller design manufactured in England then shipped to the U.S.
