Comments:  After considerable research I have identified this propeller as one that was custom built for Charles Kirkham, probably around 1920, thanks to Jimmie Reedy at Hartzell who has provided valuable information as well as a listing of glue templates that correspond to this propeller.  Mr. Reedy felt that the intended engine was that of a Napier Lion, and was probably designed for use on a Kirkham racer.  Charles Kirkham was very much involved in the development of Curtiss engines in the late teens, particularly the Curtiss D 12, as described in this NASM article.

Both of the Hartzell Walnut Company decals are well preserved.  There is scalloped metal sheathing on both leading edges extending over the tips.  Original paint is intact with faint alligatoring.  The propeller is entirely original and authentic.  This is a well preserved and very historic original propeller that can be accurately traced to Charles Kirkham.

Length: 9 1/2 feet (114 inches),  Pitch: 78
Wood: Painted, presumably walnut

This listing from Hartzell files shows this propeller with the simple listing of "Kirkham", confirming Jimmie Reedy's assumption that this was custom built for Charles Kirkham.  If you click on the image you'll see other propellers on the list, including those made for the Douglas World Cruiser, a Douglas mail plane, and some other Kirkham aircraft, among others.
